Exciting Parent Communication News!
Parents and Guardians,
We have some exciting news to share around assessment and parent communication. PowerSchool, the online program we use to record students grades, has a function that can give parents access to their child's grades and assignments at the click of a button.
The PowerSchool Parent Portal gives parents and students access to real-time information including attendance, grades, and assignment and exam results. Everyone can stay connected: Students stay on top of assignments, parents are able to participate fully in their student's progress and learning, and teachers can use their gradebook to make decisions on what information they want to share with parents and students.
Parents/guardians can now have their own individual account, including a username and password. Once your account is created, you can manage your account information, you can link all students to your account for whom you have parental and legal rights to. The PowerSchool for Parents app is available for download on Google Play for Android devices as well as from the App Store for iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch).
As with any new program or initiative, the delivery is just as important as the program itself. At RIBMS we want to roll this out in stages to ensure students, teachers, and parents are comfortable at each stage. The roll-out for the Parent Portal is displayed in the picture above.
Staff updates to the Portal will vary from department to department. Although the loose guideline will be to have grades updated monthly, we all know every class is different. If you have any questions regarding any assessments or grades please contact the teacher of that subject directly. We hope everyone takes full advantage of this new form of communication!
